According to BNAmericas, Peru's copper production reached 1.81 million mt in the first eight months, up 2.6% YoY, showing mild growth.

Official data from Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) indicated that the main reason was the increase in ore grade at the Las Bambas copper mine.

After resolving social conflicts, Las Bambas improved its operations. Together with Southern Copper and Cerro Verde, the company leads Peru's copper production, with their combined copper concentrates accounting for 46% of the country's total copper output.

The growth in Peru's copper production benefited from strong international demand, driven by copper's crucial role in the global energy transition.

According to the latest official data, Peru's copper export value reached $14.2 billion in the first seven months of 2025, up 8% YoY, consolidating its position as the country's leading export product.

In contrast, the production of gold, Peru's second-largest mineral, decreased by more than 1% YoY to approximately 70 mt.

Yanacocha remained the largest gold producer in the country, accounting for 15% of total production, followed by Poderosa at 7%.

Despite the decline in production, the country's gold export value reached $11.5 billion, up 11% YoY, supported by rising prices.
