In September, the decline in raw coal production by industrial enterprises above the designated size (hereinafter referred to as above-scale industries) narrowed, while the growth of crude oil and natural gas production accelerated, and power generation maintained steady growth.

I. Production of Raw Coal, Crude Oil, and Natural Gas and Related Information

The decline in raw coal production narrowed. In September, the production of raw coal by above-scale industries reached 410 million mt, down 1.8% YoY, with the decline narrowing by 1.4 percentage points compared to August; the daily average production was 13.72 million mt.

From January to September, the production of raw coal by above-scale industries totaled 3.57 billion mt, up 2.0% YoY.

The growth of crude oil production accelerated. In September, the production of crude oil by above-scale industries reached 17.77 million mt, up 4.1% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 1.7 percentage points compared to August; the daily average production was 592,000 mt.

From January to September, the production of crude oil by above-scale industries totaled 162.63 million mt, up 1.7% YoY.

Crude oil processing grew rapidly. In September, the volume of crude oil processed by above-scale industries reached 62.69 million mt, up 6.8% YoY; the daily average processing volume was 2.09 million mt.

From January to September, the volume of crude oil processed by above-scale industries totaled 550.81 million mt, up 3.7% YoY.


The growth of natural gas production accelerated. In September, the production of natural gas by above-scale industries reached 21.2 billion m³, up 9.4% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 3.5 percentage points compared to August; the daily average production was 710 million m³.

From January to September, the production of natural gas by above-scale industries totaled 194.9 billion m³, up 6.4% YoY.

II. Power Generation Situation

Power generation by above-scale industries maintained steady growth. In September, the power generation by above-scale industries reached 826.2 billion kWh, up 1.5% YoY; the daily average generation was 27.54 billion kWh. From January to September, the power generation by above-scale industries totaled 7,255.7 billion kWh, up 1.6% YoY.

By energy source, in September, thermal power and wind power generation by above-scale industries shifted from growth to decline, hydropower shifted from decline to growth, nuclear power growth slowed down, and solar power growth accelerated. Specifically, thermal power generation by above-scale industries decreased by 5.4% YoY, compared to an increase of 1.7% in August; hydropower generation by above-scale industries increased by 31.9% YoY, compared to a decrease of 10.1% in August; nuclear power generation by above-scale industries increased by 1.6% YoY, with the growth rate slowing down by 4.3 percentage points compared to August; wind power generation by above-scale industries decreased by 7.6% YoY, compared to an increase of 20.2% in August; solar power generation by above-scale industries increased by 21.1% YoY, with the growth rate accelerating by 5.2 percentage points compared to August.
