On July 26, the highly anticipated Da'an Integrated Demonstration Project for Green Hydrogen Production from Wind and Solar Power for Ammonia Synthesis (hereinafter referred to as the "Da'an Project") commenced operations, achieving four "world's bests" in terms of "green ammonia production scale, hybrid hydrogen production scale, DC microgrid, and solid-state hydrogen storage," marking a historic leap for China in the field of green hydrogen-based energy and contributing "China's momentum" to the global energy transition.
Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (HETC) provided the Da'an Project with its self-developed 10,000 Nm³/h "Hydrogen Surge" PEM hydrogen production equipment, offering comprehensive product services and technical support for the project's construction. It successfully completed the production, installation, and commissioning tasks of the PEM hydrogen production equipment, facilitating the smooth ammonia production of the project. As the largest 10,000 Nm³/h PEM hydrogen production equipment in China, the "Hydrogen Surge" has operated well in the Da'an Project, marking China's first large-scale industrial application of PEM electrolysis water hydrogen production technology and providing a strong guarantee for the high-quality development of green hydrogen-based energy.
Equipment Operation Leads the Way
It was learned from the Da'an Project site that HETC's 10,000 Nm³/h "Hydrogen Surge" PEM hydrogen production equipment was successfully started up at one time, completed commissioning and hydrogen production ahead of schedule, and smoothly entered stable operation. The project selected the "Hydrogen Surge Zhuohan 800" PEM hydrogen production equipment, which applies high-performance megawatt-class electrolyzers with mature operational experience and adopts a four-to-one intensive structural design, pioneering the industrial-scale operation of large-scale PEM hydrogen production equipment in China.
The "Hydrogen Surge Zhuohan 800" demonstrated excellent flexibility in the Da'an Project, capable of quickly adjusting loads and well-suited to the intermittent and fluctuating characteristics of wind and solar power generation. Compared with alkaline electrolysis water technology, it responds faster and consumes less energy. The successful production of green hydrogen is a core link in the Da'an Project's achievement of full-chain connectivity from "wind and solar power generation to green electricity hydrogen production and then to green hydrogen ammonia synthesis," paving the way for the full-line connectivity of the production line.
Service System Fully Constructed
Through the successful practice of the Da'an Project, HETC completed the standardization and serialization upgrade of the "Hydrogen Surge" products and constructed a full life cycle service system for PEM hydrogen production equipment covering "R&D - manufacturing - sales - operation and maintenance," reserving a large number of professionals and rich technical experience for the marketization of PEM hydrogen production equipment and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of green hydrogen-based energy projects in China.
