On July 26, 2025, the SPIC Da'an Wind and Solar Power to Green Hydrogen and Synthetic Ammonia Integrated Demonstration Project was officially put into operation in Jilin. The total investment of the project was 6.332 billion yuan.
The project details are as follows:
Project Name: Da'an Wind and Solar Power to Green Hydrogen and Synthetic Ammonia Integrated Project
Construction Unit: Da'an Jidian Green Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd.
Project Location: Chemical Industry Park, Liangjiazi Town, Da'an City, Baicheng City, Jilin Province
Project Budget Investment: 5.956 billion yuan
Project Background: The project is designed to produce 32,000 mt of green hydrogen and 180,000 mt of green ammonia annually, with the scale of green hydrogen production being the largest among completed domestic projects. Its significance is comparable to that of the Sinopec Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project in Xinjiang. The project includes a new energy construction scale of 800 MW, with new hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, and an 180,000 mt-class synthetic ammonia plant.
Project Positioning: The Da'an Wind and Solar Power to Green Hydrogen and Synthetic Ammonia Integrated Demonstration Project is an innovative attempt by SPIC Jidian in the field of green hydrogen-based energy. "The project uses green electricity generated from wind and solar power to electrolyze water for green hydrogen production, and then synthesizes green ammonia using green hydrogen and nitrogen as raw materials," said Song Shulin, Chairman of Da'an Green Hydrogen Company, a subsidiary of SPIC Jidian.
Technical Pathway: Wind and solar power generation → electrolysis of water for hydrogen production → ammonia synthesis, achieving "green electricity consumption + zero-carbon chemical engineering."
Construction Content: The new energy section has an installed capacity of 800 MW, including 700 MW of wind power and 100 MW of PV power. Among them, 400 MW (300 MW of wind power and 100 MW of PV power) is for self-consumption, and the remaining 400 MW of wind power is for self-consumption with surplus electricity fed into the grid. An auxiliary 40MW/80MWh ESS and a new 220kV collection and step-up substation will be constructed. For wind power, wind turbine generators with a single unit capacity of 5.0 MW or above, a wheel hub height of 110 meters or above, and a rotor diameter of 190 meters or above will be installed. For PV power, N-type 560Wp double-glass bifacial modules, flat-tilted single-axis supports, and string inverters will be installed.
Hydrogen Production and Synthetic Ammonia Section: The project will construct 50 sets of 200Nm³/h PEM hydrogen production equipment, 39 sets of 1000Nm³/h alkaline electrolysis hydrogen production equipment, a 20,000Nm³/h air separation unit, an 180,000 mt-class synthetic ammonia plant per year, hydrogen storage, ESS, and related public and auxiliary facilities. The designed annual hydrogen production capacity is 32,000 mt and the synthetic ammonia production capacity is 180,000 mt.
