On July 20, at the CRRC Zhuzhou Institute industrial park, a long whistle pierced the clear sky—13 sets of independently developed 1000Nm³/h electrolyzers embarked on their journey, heading for the Guohua Cangzhou "Green Port Hydrogen City" project. This departure ceremony marked a significant breakthrough in the self-reliance and large-scale production of large-scale green hydrogen equipment in China, injecting strong momentum into the hydrogen energy industry demonstration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Flexible Hydrogen Production with Multi-level Safety Protection

Leading the Development of Green Electricity-based Hydrogen Production Technology

The electrolyzers delivered this time adopt flexible hydrogen production technology and a multi-level safety defense plan. They are fully equipped with cell inspection and intelligent control modules, calibrating the electrolyzer performance according to dense power points, providing basic support for flexible regulation of the project. Based on intrinsic safety + system defense technology, the product development has undergone rigorous testing from materials to components, complete machines, and systems. All electrolyzers have undergone long-term full-power operation assessments. Meanwhile, setting a precedent in the industry, the "4-in-1" multi-electrolyzer parallel system joint debugging test was completed in the factory for the first time, verifying the stability and coordinated control capability of the system under complex operating conditions such as low-power operation, sudden power increases and decreases, repeated startups and shutdowns, and multi-electrolyzer power regulation in different directions, with safety performance reaching international advanced levels.

More Flexible: Wide range adjustment from 30% to 110%, stable long-term operation at 30% low load, with a power regulation rate of up to 8%/S;

More Efficient: Low DC energy consumption of 4.2~4.4kWh/Nm³, temperature difference ≤12℃, and voltage difference ≤±3%;

More Intelligent: "One-button startup/shutdown" and "one-button replacement" functions, with fully automated operation making the product more intelligent.

Building a Benchmark for Large-scale Green Hydrogen Applications

The Guohua Cangzhou "Green Port Hydrogen City" project is a national hydrogen energy industry demonstration project. CRRC Zhuzhou Institute provides complete hydrogen production equipment, including hydrogen production power supplies and electrolyzers, for this project. After the project is put into operation, it will achieve an annual production of 100,000 mt of green ammonia and reduce carbon emissions by over 400,000 mt.

"This delivery not only reflects our technological strength but also marks a crucial step for CRRC towards achieving the 'Dual Carbon' goals," said Tang Yuanyuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of the Comprehensive Energy Business Unit of CRRC Zhuzhou Institute. In the future, the company will continue to innovate technologically, reduce the cost of green hydrogen, and promote its large-scale application. It will focus on optimizing the matching between electrolyzers and power systems, enhancing flexible regulation capabilities to adapt to fluctuations in renewable energy. Meanwhile, it will develop unmanned factories and intelligent diagnostic technologies to improve efficiency and safety, and ensure stable system operation through multiple safety defense technologies.
