The Mentar rutile mine in Cameroon shows great potential

  • May 13, 2025, at 2:13 pm

According to a report from MiningNews.net, Peak Minerals has announced a significant rutile discovery at its Minta project in Cameroon, which could potentially be "world-class."

The Minta project spans an area of 3,500 square kilometers, with significant heavy mineral (HM) mineralization observed in all drill holes from the surface to an average depth of 4.7 meters. The ore zone extends 12 kilometers along strike.

The main mineralization intersections are as follows:

◎ A 4.7-meter-thick intersection with a HM grade of 2.9%;

◎ A 4.2-meter-thick intersection with a HM grade of 2.4%.

A discovery hole intersected 4 meters of ore with a rutile grade of 1.05%. The current drilling is located approximately 25 kilometers from this hole.

Sample analysis for 304 holes has not yet been completed.

Peak Minerals stated, "The project has not undergone modern exploration before. The company is using low-cost auger drilling because ore is visible at the surface, and this technique has also been employed by other companies in Africa."
