From April 26, 2025 to May 2, 2025, the weekly operating rate of secondary lead in four provinces tracked by SMM was 42.46%, a decrease of 4.47 percentage points WoW. The availability of waste lead-acid batteries in the market remained scarce, and the raw material purchase quotes from secondary lead smelters remained high. The cost pressure brought about by tight raw material supply, coupled with weak purchase willingness for lead ingots from downstream users, resulted in significant operational pressure for smelters. Consequently, there were many production cuts and suspensions, and the operating rate of refined lead continued to decline this week. As the Labour Day holiday approaches, the supply of raw materials for smelters remains a concern, and the operating situation of enterprises may continue to decline.
