Recycling Rate Exceeds 98%! Breakthrough Progress in LFP Battery Recycling

  • Apr 18, 2025, at 2:30 pm
Currently, the LFP battery recycling industry is experiencing rapid development, with significant improvements in recycling scale, technological maturity, and policy support. The recycling scale is expanding rapidly: with the wave of retired power batteries from NEVs, the recycling volume of LFP batteries has surged. In 2023, the total volume of retired power batteries in China exceeded 580,000 mt, and it is expected to surpass 6 million mt by 2030, forming a market size of hundreds of billions. The technological route is gradually maturing: hydrometallurgy has become the mainstream, achieving efficient recovery of metals such as lithium, iron, and phosphorus through leaching and extraction processes, with a recovery rate of over 98.5%. Meanwhile, dry recycling and biological recycling technologies are also being optimized, further reducing recycling costs. The policy system is gradually improving: the government has introduced multiple policies to promote the construction of a power battery recycling system, requiring companies to consider recycling needs from the design stage and strengthening full life cycle supervision. Additionally, the improvement of the power battery traceability management platform has provided data support for the recycling industry. In this context, on June 12-13, 2025, SMM will hold the 2025 SMM 2nd Global Secondary Metal Industry Chain Summit in Thailand, inviting Sujin Kim, Global Business Development Head of BatX Energies, to deliver a speech titled "Breakthrough Progress in LFP Battery Recycling," deeply analyzing industry frontier technologies, innovative business models, and global market layouts around core issues such as recycling technology iteration, policy orientation, and resource recycling, helping companies seize market opportunities and promoting the LFP battery recycling industry towards greening, intelligence, and internationalization. Guest Speaker: Sujin Kim is the Global Business Development Head of BatX Energies, responsible for strategically strengthening the company's global expansion in the battery recycling field. Her responsibilities include leading partnership and business development plans, adhering to sustainable development practices, and making significant contributions to promoting circular economy principles within the industry.
