Beijing (Gasgoo)- On April 2, 2025, autonomous driving company WeRide announced a strategic partnership with Uber Technologies, Inc., the world's largest mobility and delivery technology company, and Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The collaboration aims to introduce Robotaxi autonomous ride-hailing services in Dubai, marking a significant milestone in WeRide and Uber's global autonomous driving expansion.
WeRide has been a leader in the Middle East's autonomous driving sector since launching its Robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi in 2021. Leveraging its strong technological adaptability and proven safety record, WeRide secured the UAE’s first national-level autonomous driving license in July 2023, allowing it to test and operate autonomous vehicles across public roads nationwide.
In December 2024, WeRide and Uber launched a commercial Robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi, marking Uber's first deployment of autonomous vehicles outside the U.S. and the largest Robotaxi fleet operating beyond the U.S. and China. The latest expansion into Dubai makes it the second Middle Eastern city to feature WeRide and Uber's autonomous ride-hailing service, further solidifying their leadership in global autonomous mobility.
