According to customs data, film exports in February reached 2.9559 million mt, down 33.80% MoM but up 31.62% YoY. In February, Indonesia was the largest export market, accounting for 36.96% of exports. In February 2025, China's PV film exports by country and region were mainly to Indonesia (36.96%), South Korea (9.60%), India (8.05%), Poland (5.01%), and Vietnam (4.40%).
According to customs data, film exports in 2024 totaled 41,941.73 mt, down 33.01% from the previous year.

From a regional development perspective, the Asia-Pacific region is emerging as the most promising PV film consumer market globally, with China and Indonesia particularly standing out. This trend is mainly driven by the region's thriving PV industry chain. As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is accelerating its renewable energy industry layout under the guidance of its "carbon neutrality" strategy. The "2025 Indonesia Solar Outlook" report released by the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) shows that the country is expected to add 350-550 GW of solar capacity by 2050. To achieve the targets of 23% renewable energy by 2025, 28% by 2030, and fulfill its 2060 carbon neutrality commitment, Indonesia is gradually phasing out traditional coal power (planning to shut down 10.6 GW of coal capacity), creating significant space for the development of clean energy such as PV. Currently, Indonesia's PV film market remains highly dependent on imports. As a global leader in the PV industry, China has significant advantages in film capacity and technology, with substantial export potential to Indonesia. Transparent EVA film is the main product category exported from China to Indonesia. IESR points out that fully unleashing Indonesia's PV development potential requires policy support, technological innovation, and international collaboration. Whether Indonesia can achieve leapfrog development in the global energy transition depends on its ability to accelerate PV deployment and complete the transformation from a manufacturing powerhouse to an energy powerhouse.
