March 25: SHFE Aluminum Continues to Show Weakness, Supply Suddenly Tightens but Actual Transactions Remain Mediocre [Daily Review of Spot Aluminum Billet]

SHFE aluminum continued to show weakness today. Sudden signs of tightening supply in Foshan and Wuxi led to an initial upward adjustment in processing fees, but downstream buyers were not in a hurry to purchase and still tended to bargain. Suppliers slightly lowered their quotes during the session, with actual transactions remaining mediocre. Today, the Foshan aluminum billet market was quoted at 170/220, down 10; the Wuxi market processing fees were 250/280, down 0/20; and the Nanchang area processing fees were 170/220, down 30. SMM Mar 25 News: On Mar 25, SMM A00 aluminum was quoted at 20,660 yuan/mt, unchanged, with a discount of 20 yuan/mt against the Apr contract, up 10. On Mar 25, SMM A00 aluminum (Foshan) was quoted at 20,660 yuan/mt, unchanged, with a discount of 15 yuan/mt against the current month, narrowing by 15. (Unit: yuan/mt) Inventory side, according to SMM statistics, domestic aluminum billet inventories in two locations showed that aluminum billet inventory in Guangdong was 166,900 mt, Wuxi aluminum billet inventory was 50,000 mt, totaling 216,900 mt, decreasing by 4,000 mt. SHFE aluminum continued to be weak today, and supply of goods in Foshan and Wuxi suddenly showed signs of tightening. The initial processing fee concentrated on rising, but downstream buyers were not in a hurry to purchase and still preferred to bargain.
