During the survey period (February 18 to February 24), the operating rate and capacity utilisation rate of rebar rolling lines in steel mills in Central China increased.
Specifically, rolling lines in Hunan Province maintained normal production during this period; in Henan Province, one rolling line resumed production, while another rolling line underwent maintenance due to high sales pressure in some steel mills, keeping overall production stable. In Hubei Province, blast furnace maintenance in blast furnace steel mills was completed, and three rolling lines resumed production, leading to an increase in regional rebar supply. Regarding in-plant inventory, the accumulation was mainly due to sluggish sales in Henan Province, resulting in a slight increase in overall in-plant inventory.
Rebar production in Central China is expected to see a slight increase next week, primarily driven by extended operating hours and improved capacity utilisation rates in steel mills in Hubei and Henan Provinces.

During the survey period (February 18 to February 24), the operating rate and capacity utilisation rate of wire rod rolling lines in steel mills in Central China increased.
Specifically, in Hunan Province, some steel mills redirected pig iron to other products, and two rolling lines underwent maintenance. In Henan and Hubei Provinces, four rolling lines resumed production following the completion of blast furnace maintenance in blast furnace steel mills. As a result, the operating rate and production of wire rod rolling lines in the region increased. Regarding in-plant inventory, steel mills maintained normal shipments, with a slight increase in wire rod in-plant inventory during this period.
Wire rod production in Central China is expected to shift from an increase to a decrease in the next period, mainly due to extended maintenance schedules for some rolling lines in Hunan Province, which will impact production.
