SMM, February 12: Silicon metal prices in east China remained largely stable. Standard #553 silicon metal in east China was priced at 10,600-10,700 yuan/mt, above-standard #553 silicon metal at 10,800-10,900 yuan/mt, and #421 silicon metal at 11,500-11,700 yuan/mt. The recent inquiry activity in the silicon metal market has been relatively strong, but actual new order transactions fell short of expectations. This is mainly due to the price divergence between silicon buyers and sellers. Most silicon plants reported that downstream silicon purchasers still have strong price suppression sentiment, while silicon plants currently prefer to maintain stable quotations and show low willingness to sign orders at reduced prices.
