[SMM Analysis: Secondary Copper Rod Enterprises Maintain Ample Finished Product Inventory, Mainly for Post-Holiday Deliveries] According to SMM survey data, the operating rate of secondary copper rod enterprises reached 14.98% this week, down 7.55 percentage points WoW and 32.47 percentage points YoY. The average price spread of copper cathode rod and secondary copper rod was 1,219 yuan/mt this week, down 380 yuan/mt from last week's 1,599 yuan/mt. Meanwhile, the average discount of secondary copper rod in Jiangxi was 556 yuan/mt, narrowing by 414 yuan/mt WoW...

According to SMM survey data, the operating rate of secondary copper rod reached 14.98% this week, down 7.55 percentage points WoW and 32.47 percentage points YoY. The average price spread of refined and secondary copper rods was 1,219 yuan/mt this week, down 380 yuan/mt from last week's 1,599 yuan/mt. Meanwhile, the average discount of secondary copper rod in Jiangxi was 556 yuan/mt, narrowing by 414 yuan/mt WoW.
Logistics gradually went on holiday this week, and secondary copper rod enterprises also suspended external quotations. Communication with enterprises revealed that, driven by the significant increase in copper prices before the holiday, many end-user wire and cable enterprises placed orders with secondary copper rod enterprises for post-holiday delivery. Weekly finished product inventories of secondary copper rod samples stood at 10,400 mt, up 2,400 mt from last week's 7,700 mt. Post-holiday resumption of work is mainly scheduled for February 5 and February 13. Based on the current raw material inventories of secondary copper rod enterprises, normal production rhythms can be quickly restored after the holiday.
Post-holiday, local governments may implement the "reverse invoicing" policy to varying degrees, which could impact the operating rates of some enterprises during the policy's adjustment period.
