SMM, January 17:
With the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, most secondary lead smelters across the country are either preparing for shutdowns or have already ceased production, and the purchasing demand for battery scrap remains weak. Recyclers also reported that stores are holding back sales in anticipation of post-holiday price increases, leading to resistance in current purchases. As of January 17, 2025, the mainstream tax-inclusive purchase price for EV battery scrap ranged from 9,850-10,050 yuan/mt.
The supply of secondary crude lead is relatively limited, while downstream enterprises show insufficient purchasing interest, resulting in sluggish transactions. As of January 17, 2025, the mainstream tax-exclusive delivery-to-factory price stood at 15,650-15,800 yuan/mt.
