SMM July 25:

In June 2024, China's artificial graphite imports were 650 mt, down 21% MoM and down 57% YoY. The average import price in June 2024 was 83,900 yuan/mt, up 10% MoM and up 28% YoY.

In June 2024, China's artificial graphite exports were 45,797 mt, up 7% MoM and down 9% YoY. The average export price in June 2024 was 10,731 yuan/mt, down 24% MoM and down 26% YoY.

In June, domestic artificial graphite supply remained sufficient, and the price and product specifications had significant advantages over overseas products. Therefore, domestic producers' demand for overseas artificial graphite further decreased, leading to a reduction in import volume. Overseas, due to limited previous purchases and the mid-year rush, demand increased, leading to a rise in China's artificial graphite material exports. In July, with the overall market cooling down, overseas demand for battery cells and raw material artificial graphite is expected to decline, and the export volume of artificial graphite is expected to decrease.
