Changan Automobile becomes first pilot unit for L3 intelligent connected vehicles in China

After preliminary review and competitive selection, Changan Automobile has been identified as one of the first pilot units for Level 3 intelligent connected vehicles nationwide.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Under the unified leadership and orderly organization of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Ministry of Transport, China's pilot program for the admission and road access of Level 3 intelligent connected vehicles has achieved phased results.

After preliminary review and competitive selection, Changan Automobile has been identified as one of the first pilot units for Level 3 intelligent connected vehicles nationwide.

Changan Automobile has mastered over 200 core technologies in the three major areas of driving, cockpit, and intelligent driving, fully promoting and accelerating vehicles’ electrification and intelligent transformation.

The SL03i model submitted by Changan Automobile is equipped with a Level 3 Traffic Jam Pilot (TJP) system, which represents a major breakthrough in intelligent driving technology. The system features dynamic driving task execution, dynamic driving task backup, and human-machine interaction capabilities. Specifically, for traffic congestion scenarios on expressways and urban arterial roads, the system can conditionally activate the Level 3 autonomous driving mode, effectively reducing driver fatigue while enhancing the driving experience.

Through the application of a seven-fold redundancy architecture and five-fold perception technology, the TJP system can accurately perceive the surrounding environment. In specific scenarios, not only can it free the user's hands and eyes, but the system will also issue an intervention request in advance when facing certain situations or before exiting the autonomous driving mode, ensuring that the user can quickly take over vehicle control when necessary, making the intelligent driving process safer and more controllable.
