Beijing (Gasgoo)- On May 7, autonomous driving company AutoX announced that it has obtained the first and currently only qualification for full-domain innovation application of RoboTaxi in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province.
On May 1, Hangzhou city's autonomous driving regulations officially came into effect, launching a comprehensive coverage of shuttle services spanning 3,474 square kilometers across core urban districts such as Shangcheng, Gongshu, Xihu, Binjiang, Xiaoshan, Yuhang, Linping, and Qiantang, serving a population of over 10 million.
With the formal implementation of the autonomous driving regulations, Hangzhou has officially announced the full opening of intelligent connected vehicle testing and application throughout the city's built-up areas, making it the first provincial capital city in China to support the on-road deployment of autonomous vehicles through local regulations.
Previously, AutoX had obtained unmanned driving permits in five megacities including Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Silicon Valley, covering a total permitted area of over 600 square kilometers globally to practice unmanned driving tests. With the new license received in Hangzhou, AutoX now conducts large-scale RoboTaxi testing and operations in six first-tier cities worldwide, with a total area of nearly 6,000 square kilometers.
Taking advantage of this significant opportunity provided by favorable policies, AutoX will fully promote the expansion of autonomous driving related application scenarios in core urban areas, focusing on commercial CBDs, transportation hubs, and key urban areas, connecting the vertical axis of Hangzhou's urban areas, covering both major and minor roads, and achieving unlimited parking at any point within the operational area, thereby jointly building a benchmark for the development of intelligent connected vehicle new productive applications.
