Beijing (Gasgoo)- On April 25, Pony.ai, Toyota China, and GAC Toyota announced at the Auto China 2024 in Beijing that their joint venture is nearing completion of corporal registration. They plan to deploy a fleet of thousands of bZ4X autonomous driving vehicles in the Chinese market, seamlessly integrated into Pony.ai's Robotaxi operation platform, to provide large-scale fully autonomous ride-share services in major cities across China.
Last August, the three parties signed an agreement to establish the joint venture company, with a combined investment exceeding 1 billion yuan, aiming to scale up the production and deployment of Level 4 Robotaxis. Currently, the joint venture is progressing steadily with the joint development and production planning of the first bZ4X-based Robotaxi model, advancing the commercialization self-driving vehicles.
In addition, Pony.ai and Toyota are also establishing a supporting autonomous driving operation value chain, including vehicle maintenance, charging, and cleaning, to ensure reliable operation for urban-level Level 4 Robotaxi services.
From April 25 to May 4, the bZ4X Robotaxi concept car jointly developed by Pony.ai and Toyota will be showcased at the Auto China, offering a preview of the vehicle's design and product concept. The car is planned to be equipped with Pony.ai's seventh-generation autonomous driving solution for passenger cars.
