On November 28, Electra Battery Materials Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rock Tech Lithium to supply recycled lithium for battery-grade chemical processing, aiming to create a sustainable closed-loop service for recycling lithium-ion batteries. This partnership enables Electra to upgrade recycled lithium into battery-grade products, enhancing its service offerings and revenue streams. The collaboration involves Electra supplying lithium from its Ontario refinery to Rock Tech for further processing, with material processing expected to start in 2026, aligning with Electra’s expansion plans and Rock Tech’s development of lithium converters in Germany and Ontario.
