The operating rates of key copper rod producers using copper cathode averaged 68.11% this week, an increase of 3.19 percentage points from last week. Some copper rod enterprises said that new orders increased significantly from last week and downstream delivery-taking also accelerated noticeably.
On the whole, the orders improved this week, and consumption is still resilient. But the trend of copper prices has greatly affected the downstream purchasing. A number of copper rod companies reported that cash flow issues affected orders from small and medium-sized cable companies. Large scale cable factories were favoured by copper rod companies due to factors including reliable payment and stable orders. Large copper rod companies in east China offered discounts for large orders.
