According to foreign media reports, Codelco closed the smelting capacity of its Ventanas smelter in Chile (smelting capacity is 150,000 mt).
In the second half of last year, the operating rates of Ventanas smelter were restricted due to environmental pollution.
Glencore plans to invest $1.5 billion to start the Coroccohuayco project to expand its Antapacay copper mine in Peru and address the problem of declining copper grades in the ore.
The preliminary feasibility study of the project is expected to be approved in the second half of 2024 before launching a full-scale project.
