SHANGHAI, May 19 (SMM) - The average operating rate of secondary lead smelters with hazardous waste treatment permits dropped 5.35 percentage points from a month ago to 51.1% in April, according to SMM survey. SMM surveyed 41 smelters with a total production capacity of 7.29 million mt.
The average operating rate of large smelters with an annual production capacity above 100,000 mt fell 5.79 percentage points MoM to 53.19%. Anhui Huabo put some of its production lines under maintenance in April, but resumed production in early May. The average operating rate of medium-sized smelters with annual production capacity between 80,000-100,000 mt rose 7.32 percentage points MoM to 52.51%. Inner Mongolia Senrun resumed production in April, but cut production in May due to tight battery scrap supply. The average operating rate of small smelters with annual production capacity below 80,000 mt fell 18.23 percentage points MoM to 26.59%. Jiangxi Xinya closed for technical upgrading, which may last 7-10 months.
