According to the China Iron and Steel Association, the average daily output of pig iron in key steel mills in late April 2023 was 2.03 million mt, an increase of 0.41% from mid-April and a year-on-year decrease of 0.59%; the average daily output of crude steel in key steel enterprises in late April was 2.21 million mt, down 3.63% from mid-April and a year-on-year decrease of 6.46%; the average daily steel output of key steel enterprises in late April was 2.27 million mt, up 3.01% from mid-April and a year-on-year decrease of 1.23%.
During the same period, finished steel stocks held by the key mills stood at 18.11 million mt, down 430,800 mt or 2.32% from mid-April; up 856,900 mt or 4.97% from the same period in March. The inventory added 5.04 million mt or 38.52% from the end of 2022 and rose 21,600 mt or 0.12% from the same period last year.
