On the supply side, DMC plants kept operating rates low this week. At present, the production line of a DMC factory in Shandong remained closed, and one DMC plant in Zhejiang shut down for maintenance. One DMC plant in Jiangsu and one in Inner Mongolia closed for maintenance.
As of May 5, the average price of #421 silicon (for silicone) in east China was 16,900 yuan/mt, flat from a week earlier. Prices of methyl chloride in Shandong stood at 2,250 yuan/mt, up 350 yuan/mt.
The domestic silicone market remained stable this week. Before the Labour Day holidays, stockpiling by some downstream enterprises boosted trades slightly, which provided some downstream enterprises with certain confidence that the prices will stabilise.
