SHANGHAI, Apr 26 (SMM) – Chile's economy minister stated that decisions about the lithium mining industry must be in the public interest of Chile, and state-owned lithium companies will play a role in the entire value chain.
The government will seek state participation before the current lithium contract expires in 2030.
In response to this situation, Albemarle said it would negotiate a lithium mine contract with Chile.
Mining company SQM also said it believed it would reach a "reasonable lithium deal" with Chile.
