According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China produced 714,000 mt of lead in November, an increase of 5.6% year on year.

SHANGHAI, Dec 28 (SMM) – According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), China produced 714,000 mt of lead in November, an increase of 5.6% year on year. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Yunnan, Inner Mongolia and other places was relieved, and local smelters resumed production. In addition, the profit of secondary lead smelters improved and that prompted those smelters to produce actively.

SMM said that some areas are still high risk for COVID-19 spread. Meanwhile, most of the enterprises have met their annual output and sales targets. Therefore, the increase and decrease in the output can be very close.

Smelters in some regions have cut output. Many secondary lead smelters reported thinner profit resulting from surging domestic prices of battery scrap.
