SHANGHAI, Dec 26 (SMM) - According to customs data, China's aluminium extrusion exports (HS code 76041010, 76041090, 76042100, 76042910, 76042990) stood at 82,200 mt in November, a month-on-month increase of 10.9%, but a year-on-year drop of 6.7%. Guangdong accounted for 51.2% of the total exports, followed by Shandong (12%). The share of Hunan increased significantly to 3.9%, while that of Anhui declined. The rankings of other provinces changed little.
South-east Asian countries, such as Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand, remained the major buyers. The exports to Vietnam stood at 7,641 mt, accounting for 9.3% of China’s total exports, versus the Philippines (5,413 mt or 6.6%), and Israel (4,427 mt or 5.4%).
Aluminium extrusion exports in November showed the seasonal characteristics that were similar to those in previous years. The exports fell from the middle of the year to October before recovering in November, but the increase far lagged behind that in previous years. Over the past three years, the European Union, South-east Asia, the US, Australia and other countries and regions have issued anti-dumping and anti-subsidy policies against aluminium extrusion from China. And some countries have not yet announced their sanctions.
SMM estimates that aluminium extrusion will account for 15% of China’s total aluminium semis exports in 2022, down from 17% in 2021. It is expected that China’s aluminium semis exports will be largely stable in the future, while the proportion and volume of aluminium extrusion exports will continue to decline slightly.
