SHANGHAI, Aug 24 (SMM) - In today's polysilicon development forum, the person in charge of Tongwei Co. (600438, a leading polysilicon manufacturer in China) said that its production base in Sichuan province has been affected by local power rationing since the beginning of August, and the overall production has been cut by about 20% to 30%. When it came to the middle of August, the power supply shortage got even more serious, and the Company answered to production cuts actively.
The specific impact will be assessed at the end of the month, with the follow-up impact to be observed based on local rainfalls and hydropower supply. Nonetheless, the Company's new capacity is ramping up fast and the Company is expected to supply 230,000 mt of polysilicon throughout the year, flat over the goal set at the beginning of the year.
