[SMM Express] This week, the operating rate of zinc oxide was recorded at 56.45%, down 0.92 percentage points WoW. The decline in the operating rate of zinc oxide this week was mainly due to weakening demand, with some enterprises slightly reducing their operating rates. In terms of terminal orders, inventory pressure at all-steel tire plants has increased recently, and demand has slowed down. For ceramic-grade zinc oxide, some ceramic plants have gradually entered a state of reduced or suspended production, and demand for ceramic-grade zinc oxide is relatively average. Feed-grade zinc oxide performed relatively stable overall. In the electronic-grade zinc oxide sector, orders for lightning arresters remained relatively good.

[SMM Express] The operating rate of die-casting zinc alloy producers recorded 51.08% this week, down 0.23 percentage points MoM. The slight decline this week was mainly due to higher zinc prices dampening production at some enterprises, but overall orders at large plants remained relatively stable, coupled with production resumptions at some enterprises during the week, resulting in only a slight decrease in the operating rate.

As a key project for extending and complementing the aluminum industry chain in Donghe District, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia, the first phase of Ruijin New Materials Technology Co., Ltd.'s 10kt annual production capacity of aluminum plate/sheet, strip and foil recently commenced operations, with a bustling scene at the production site. Machines hummed loudly, as liquid aluminum was being refined in the smelting furnace, and fully automated robots precisely removed impurities. Rolls of shiny silver aluminum plate/sheet and strip, processed through the casting and rolling technique, slowly came off the line, their surfaces as smooth and lustrous as mirrors. This project pioneered a dual-track process of "ultra-thin cast rolling + high-precision cold rolling," improving the compositional uniformity of cast-rolled billets by 30% and reducing energy consumption per unit product by 25%. The annual output value can reach 1.5 billion yuan, injecting new momentum into the complete industry chain loop of "aluminum - high-purity aluminum - aluminum plate/sheet and strip - aluminum foil - deep processing of aluminum" in the Baotou Aluminum Industry Park.

The project focuses on the construction and application of the energy storage system, adopting an innovative model where the ESS battery charges during valley periods (normal periods) and discharges during peak periods. This approach, through two charging and two discharging cycles, effectively reduces the enterprise's electricity costs. Additionally, the project is supplemented with a PV power generation system, aiming to compensate for part of the energy loss during the ESS conversion process.

On December 6, 2025, Indonesia's state-owned aluminum company PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) disclosed key operational data: By the end of October 2025, the company's aluminum product sales volume had reached 236,500 mt, not only exceeding the annual sales target of 231,000 mt with a completion rate of 102.4%, but also achieving a growth of approximately 4.1% YoY compared to the 227,100 mt sold in the same period of 2024, delivering a strong performance amid the complex tug-of-war between sellers and buyers in the global aluminum industry's supply-demand landscape. On the export front, the company achieved a diversified presence, with 24% of its products sold overseas, mainly covering Asian markets including Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, China, India, and Thailand. Notably, these markets closely overlap with the core flows of global aluminum trade—Australia's metal aluminum exports primarily target Japan, South Korea, China, etc., while the dense presence of Chinese enterprises in Indonesia has also built bridges for cooperation between the company and the Chinese market.
