The 505 MW Wind and Solar Power to Hydrogen Integrated Green Ammonia Synthesis Project, owned by Shenneng North Control Company in Otog Banner, has been successfully connected to the grid, injecting strong momentum into the optimization of the energy structure and clean transition of Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. As one of the first batch of hydrogen pilot projects in the energy sector approved by the National Energy Administration, this grid connection marks a critical step for the project entering the large-scale production phase of green hydrogen and green ammonia.
Located in Otog Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, the project's core construction includes a 500 MW wind farm, a 5 MW off-grid PV power station, a hydrogen production plant, and an ammonia synthesis unit. With a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan, the project is expected to produce 20,000 mt of green hydrogen and 150,000 mt of green ammonia annually upon completion, saving approximately 490,000 mt of standard coal each year, while achieving a new energy power consumption rate of over 80%.
Facing multiple challenges such as tight schedules, heavy tasks, and high technical difficulties, the project team carried out scientific planning and strict quality control, achieving further success in key engineering aspects. Among these, the 60-kilometer 220 kV power collection line project, spanning over 60 km, was fully completed in just over 130 days, setting a new record for the construction speed of similar projects in the region. Through repeated simulations of the power transmission plan and precise equipment debugging, the team ensured the entire system was in optimal operating condition, laying a solid foundation for the successful grid connection.
