Beijing (Gasgoo)- On Oct. 9, Great Wall Motor's hydrogen energy subsidiary GWM HYDROGEN-FTXT ("FTXT") announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Brazil's Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas (IPT). The two sides will jointly conduct testing and research on the safety, reliability, and feasibility of hydrogen applications in heavy-duty vehicles.

The partnership was unveiled during the inauguration of IPT's new hydrogen laboratory, LabH₂, marking a key milestone for FTXT's technological expansion and market entry in Brazil's hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle sector. Under the agreement, FTXT and IPT will combine their strengths—FTXT's expertise in hydrogen fuel cell technology and IPT's strong R&D foundation—to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen solutions for Brazil's transport industry.

Founded in 1899 and affiliated with the São Paulo State Department of Science and Innovation, IPT is one of Brazil's most prestigious scientific research institutions. Its newly established LabH₂ houses full hydrogen value-chain testing facilities, including 70 MPa and 35 MPa refueling stations, providing a robust infrastructure for collaborative research.

FTXT said the partnership represents a major step in its global strategy and will promote hydrogen fuel cell truck deployment across Brazil and South America, contributing to global energy transition and sustainable mobility.
