[SMM Survey] Hydrogen Energy Weekly Electrolyzer Industry Review (20250926-1009)

Capacity-wise, according to incomplete statistics, the domestic alkaline electrolyzer market remains at 43.77 GW, with no new capacity added.

This week's electrolyzer delivery updates:
Shanghai Hydrogen Sharp's PEM hydrogen production equipment was successfully shipped to a project site of South Africa's national power company ESKOM.

Previous delivery updates:

Cummins' subsidiary Accelera delivered a 35 MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis system to Linde Group's green hydrogen plant under construction in Niagara Falls, New York.

Guofu Hydrogen delivered a 10 Nm³/h hydrogen production unit and a 10 kW fuel cell combined heat and power system to the Clean Hydrogen Center of Excellence in Morocco.

China Shipbuilding Group's No. 718 Research Institute, under its subsidiary CSIC (Handan) Paier Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd., completed the final transportation and loading of ten 1000 Nm³/h electrolyzers totaling 50 MW, which were officially shipped from Lianyungang Port to Piraeus Port, Greece.

The 10,000 Nm³/h electrolyzer for Sany Hydrogen's wind and solar power-to-hydrogen integrated green ammonia project in Ordos, Shenzhen Energy, was successfully dispatched.

CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co., Ltd. officially dispatched 13 self-developed 1000 Nm³/h electrolyzers, which will be delivered to the Guohua Cangzhou "Green Port Hydrogen City" project.

Guofu Hydrogen supplied 50 Nm³/h water electrolysis products for Malaysia's national grid TNB-PCSS green hydrogen demonstration project, which have been successfully shipped to Shanghai Port.

Wenshi Hydrogen's AEM hydrogen production system was successfully shipped to Austria.

Hydrogen Yi Energy's R&D and produced MW-level hydrogen production system has been shipped and will be used in a large-scale domestic energy enterprise's hydrogen production project.

Shanghai Hydrogen Era Technology Co., Ltd. delivered four 1050 Nm³/h units to the China Energy Engineering Songyuan Hydrogen Industry Park project.

Zhongji Zhongdian (Yangzhou) Hydrogen Production Equipment Co., Ltd. successfully delivered a complete set of 1000 Nm³/h alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment, including an electrolyzer, separation skid, purification skid, and alkali tank, among other supporting equipment; the delivery destination is not yet known.

As of September 25, 2025, domestic enterprises (including overseas deliveries) delivered a total of 365.85 MW of alkaline electrolyzers in Q2 (data sourced from public information and SMM survey statistics).

Electrolyzer project updates:

1. Sunlight New Energy Development Co., Ltd. is conducting a technology and process tender for its Jilin Da'an Wind and Solar Power-to-Hydrogen Coupled Biomass Green Methanol Integrated Demonstration Project in the Daa Economic Development Zone, Baicheng City, Jilin Province. The wind and solar power-to-hydrogen part will utilize local abundant wind and solar resources, converting green electricity into green hydrogen through electrolyzers, with an initial planned hydrogen production scale of about 95,000 Nm³/h.

2. Wulatezhongqi Jinfeng Runhang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s Jinfeng Science & Technology Wulatezhongqi Wind and Solar Power-to-Hydrogen Integrated Project (hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol part) entered the filing stage. Phase I: Construction of a 600,000 mt/year green methanol facility, equipped with water electrolysis hydrogen production, biomass gasification, purification, and synthesis systems. Phase II: Subsequent construction of a 400,000 mt/year green ammonia facility, forming a multi-product matrix of "green hydrogen-green methanol-green ammonia."

3. Huadian (Zhenglanqi) New Energy Co., Ltd.'s Inner Mongolia Huadian Zhenglanqi Wind and Solar Power-to-Hydrogen Integrated Project (hydrogen production part) entered the filing stage. Construction scale: Annual green hydrogen production of 10,720 mt, with a hydrogen production capacity of 24,000 Nm³/h (equivalent to 24 MW electrolyzer scale). Hydrogen storage system: Equipped with five 2,000 m³ spherical storage tanks, with a total hydrogen storage capacity of 110,000 m³, capable of meeting continuous production needs for 12 hours. Energy storage configuration: A 45 MW/90 MWh electrochemical energy storage system will be built to smooth out wind power fluctuations and ensure continuous hydrogen production. Liquefaction equipment: Includes a hydrogen liquefaction unit to convert gaseous hydrogen into liquid hydrogen for long-distance transportation or high-end applications.

4. Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group's 15 million mt/year coal clean and efficient conversion demonstration project entered the EPC bid announcement stage. Construction scale: Annual production of 5.6 million mt of methanol, equipped with 1.48 million mt/year methanol-to-olefins and downstream deep processing facilities, ultimately producing a total of 2.77 million mt/year of polyethylene, polypropylene, EVA, SAP, and other eight products.

5. Jingneng Dongfeng (Shiyan) Energy Development Co., Ltd.'s photovoltaic, energy storage, and hydrogen integrated project (Phase I) in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, entered the design bidding stage for Phase I. Hydrogen production scale: Phase I construction of a 300 Nm³/h grid-forming hydrogen production and off-grid system using alkaline electrolyzers, equipped with a 1.5 MW/3 MWh energy storage station to stabilize power load, with an annual hydrogen production of approximately 210 mt.

6. Bayannaoer Liyuan Alloy Materials Co., Ltd.'s Ganqimaodu Port Processing Park Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production Project entered the filing stage. Hydrogen production scale: Annual green hydrogen production of 250,000 mt, using water electrolysis hydrogen production technology, and equipped with a hydrogen filling station, compression unit, storage facilities (hydrogen sphere tanks), and a wastewater treatment plant.

7. Inner Mongolia Huadian Huayang Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s Inner Mongolia Huadian Damotu Wind and Solar Power-to-Hydrogen Integrated Project entered the wind turbine bidding stage. Hydrogen production scale: Construction of 88 1000 Nm³/h water electrolysis hydrogen production units and supporting equipment, with an annual hydrogen production capacity of 547 million Nm³. Equipped with 25 2000 m³ water volume hydrogen sphere tanks, with a hydrogen storage capacity of 650,000 Nm³; also includes the construction of a 220 kV hydrogen production substation and other facilities.

8. Guohua Investment Guohua New Energy Co., Ltd.'s Chengde Fengning Wind and Solar Hydrogen Storage 1000 MW Demonstration Project (hydrogen production station part) entered the hydrogen production project design service winning bid stage. Hydrogen production capacity: Phase I construction of a 2000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer, operating 8000 hours annually, with an annual hydrogen production of 16 million Nm³. Space reserved for Phase II expansion, with a long-term planning capacity that can be increased to 4000-6000 Nm³/h.

9. Longyuan Power Guoneng Chuang Alashan New Energy Co., Ltd.'s 1000 MW Wind and Solar Hydrogen Ammonia Infrastructure Integrated Low-Carbon Industrial Park Demonstration Project, including a 140,000 mt green hydrogen-to-ammonia project, entered the hydrogen production power supply bidding stage. Hydrogen production scale: Using alkaline electrolyzers, with a single unit capacity of 1000 Nm³/h, and a total installed capacity of 25 units.

10. Gemeng Yihuo New Energy Co., Ltd.'s Chahar Right Front Banner Wind and Solar Power-to-Hydrogen Integrated Project (Phase I) suspended the bidding, with specific information not disclosed. Hydrogen production scale: Using PEM electrolysis technology, with a designed capacity of 10,600 Nm³/h, and an annual green hydrogen production of about 2947 mt.

11. Inner Mongolia Huadian Mengdong Energy Co., Ltd.'s 500 MW Wind and Solar Power-to-Hydrogen Alcohol Integrated Project in Zhalute Banner, Inner Mongolia, entered the filing stage. Hydrogen production scale: Installation of 46 1000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzers (AEL), with a single unit efficiency ≥70%, and a total installed capacity of 46,000 Nm³/h, operating 8000 hours annually, with an annual green hydrogen production of about 17,900 mt.

12. Longyuan Power Longyuan (Huanxian) New Energy Co., Ltd. Xifeng Branch's key technology development and application project for biomass gasification coupled with green hydrogen for green fuel production entered the engineering design and general contracting service winning bid stage. Hydrogen production scale: Installation of a 1000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer, with a single unit efficiency ≥70%, and green hydrogen purity reaching 99.99%, mainly used for methanol synthesis.

13. Inner Mongolia Huadian Huayang Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s Inner Mongolia Huadian Damotu Wind and Solar Power-to-Hydrogen Integrated Project entered the hydrogen production station design service bidding stage. Hydrogen production scale: Designed to produce 547 million m³ of green hydrogen annually, using 88 1000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzers.

14. State Power Investment Corporation's Jidian Shares Lishu Wind and Solar Power-to-Green Hydrogen Biomass Coupled Green Methanol Project entered the EPC general contracting bidding stage. Production capacity: Annual green methanol production of 197,200 mt, with a green hydrogen production capacity of 9,750 mt/year.

15. Hubei Optics Valley East State-owned Capital Investment and Operation Group Co., Ltd.'s Daye Mining Area Green Electricity, Green Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Application Integrated Hydrogen Mine Comprehensive Construction Project entered the EPC bidding stage. Hydrogen production scale: The overall project is designed to produce 5000 mt of green hydrogen annually, implemented in two phases: Phase I: Jiangqiao Hydrogen Plant uses a dual-technology route of "alkaline electrolyzer + PEM electrolyzer," with an annual hydrogen production of 1800 mt and a purity of 99.99%. Phase II: Plans to add more alkaline electrolyzers, ultimately achieving an annual capacity of 5000 mt.

16. Tianjin Saihong Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd.'s 100,000 mt/year Biomass Green Methanol Manufacturing Project entered the filing stage. Annual production capacity: 100,000 mt of green methanol, equipped with a 1000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer and a 500 Nm³/h PEM electrolyzer, with an annual green hydrogen production of about 2000 mt.

Policy Review

The first energy industry hydrogen standard, NB/T11810-2025 "Regulations for the Preparation of Renewable Energy Power-to-Hydrogen Engineering Planning Reports," compiled by the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, was officially released and will take effect on December 30, 2025.
The European Commission approved a €4 billion electrolyzer special fund, providing a 30% equipment cost subsidy for projects with an annual capacity of ≥500 MW, and set a 2030 efficiency target for green hydrogen project electrolyzers at ≥60% (LHV basis).
The European Commission issued the "Clean Industrial Agreement National Aid Framework," with new regulations explicitly requiring member states to prioritize support for "Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin" (RFNBOs) and ensuring public resources are directed toward low-carbon technologies through details such as fund allocation ratios and project timelines.

    1. Qingqiji provided technical support to the Deyang alkaline hydrogen production project of Dongfang Electric (Chengdu) Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd., leveraging its innovative achievements in core electrolyzer materials.

    2. Hefei Momentum Conservation Green Energy Co., Ltd. formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jiangsu Hydrogen Guide Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hydrogen Guide Intelligent"), a well-known producer of electrolyzer stack assembly. The Northwest Branch of China Chemical Engineering Second Construction Co., Ltd. reported progress on the methanol synthesis unit of the second phase of the China Coal Shaanxi Energy Coal Chemical Project—the core equipment, the stabilization tower (Tag 2151T001), was successfully hoisted into place.

    4. Jiang Qingsong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Huadian Liaoning Company, held talks with Cui Zhiwei, Group Vice President of Qingdao Tgood Electric Co., Ltd., at the company headquarters. 1. 2. Hefei Zhongneng Dayou Energy Technology Co., Ltd. successfully developed a 100 kW-class multi-field coupling test equipment for PEM electrolyzer hydrogen production.
