Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that from January to July 2025, the country's coal export value (Customs Code 2701, excluding lignite, the same hereinafter) reached $13.82 billion, equivalent to IDR 2,274.7 trillion, down 21.74% YoY.
Pudji Ismartini, Deputy Director of Statistics, Distribution and Service Sector at BPS, stated during an online press conference on Monday (September 1, 2025) that the decline in Indonesia's coal export value during the January-July period was primarily attributed to reduced coal shipments.
In the first seven months, Indonesia's coal exports totaled 214.71 million mt, a decrease of over 16 million mt compared to 230.76 million mt in the same period last year, down 6.96% YoY.
Meanwhile, the average export price per mt dropped to $64.37 from $71.24 a year earlier, declining 9.64% YoY.
