According to customs data:
China's total imports of lithium carbonate reached approximately 13,845 mt in July 2025, down 22% MoM and 43% YoY. The average import price stood at approximately $9,987/mt, down 1.3% MoM from the average price in June.
Among them, imports of lithium carbonate from Chile reached approximately 8,584 mt, down 28% MoM and accounting for approximately 62% of the total imports; imports from Argentina reached approximately 3,950 mt, down 22% MoM and accounting for approximately 29% of the total imports. Chile and Argentina remained the primary source countries for China's lithium carbonate imports.
According to the latest export data from Chilean customs, the volume of lithium carbonate shipped to China in July reached approximately 14,000 mt, up 33% MoM. Overseas lithium chemical companies have not adjusted their full-year shipment guidance, and it is expected that shipment volumes will recover somewhat in H2. Overall, it is anticipated that China's total imports of lithium carbonate will continue to fluctuate at highs.
In terms of exports, China exported 366 mt of lithium carbonate in July, down 15% MoM but up 37% YoY, primarily to Japan and South Korea.
