Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 19, Tesla launched the Model Y L, a new six-seat SUV, on its official China website. The model starts at 339,000 yuan, with first deliveries scheduled for September 2025.

According to official specifications, the Model Y L has been stretched by 179 millimeters in overall length and gains 150 millimeters in wheelbase, creating significantly more cabin space. It delivers a CLTC-rated range of 751 kilometers, one of the longest in its class, while maintaining low energy consumption at 12.8 kWh per 100 kilometers.

Weighing in at 2,088 kilograms, the SUV is notably light for its size. Tesla has also equipped it with staggered tires—255 millimeters wide in the front and 275 millimeters at the rear—improving traction and stability.

The Model Y L is fitted with airbags across all three rows and allows child safety seats to be installed in the third row, offering enhanced protection for younger passengers. The airbag coverage extends 3.9 meters in length, shielding more than 95% of the vehicle's longitudinal interior space.

Tesla said the long-wheelbase version was designed to broaden the Model Y's versatility and appeal to a wider audience. The company envisions the vehicle accommodating three generations of a family on comfortable trips, carrying camping gear for weekend getaways, or simply offering ample room for young drivers eager to embrace both lifestyle and driving enjoyment.
