From August 2, 2025 to August 7, 2025, the weekly operating rate of secondary lead in four provinces tracked by SMM was 41.11%, a decrease of 3.26 percentage points WoW. Recently, sewage inspection and resolution work is underway in Anhui Province. According to SMM, some enterprises halted their furnaces for maintenance and waited to see the situation in the first half of the week, while others were slightly affected but did not suspend production. In the second half of the week, except for enterprises that halted production due to maintenance, secondary lead smelters maintained normal production and awaited further instructions.
Last week, due to the ramp-up of production after the resumption of production in late July at large smelters in Inner Mongolia, there was no significant change in the regional operating rate this week. The operating rates in Jiangsu and Henan provinces also remained relatively stable. Lead prices exhibited sideways movement, and there was no significant change in the production enthusiasm of smelters. Due to the wait-and-see attitude and reluctance to sell of waste lead-acid battery recyclers, arrivals at smelters were sluggish. Inventory changes of raw materials were closely related to production. Next week, attention will be paid to the impact of raw material arrivals on the operating rate of secondary lead.
