Over 1,700 families in Capurganá and 2,200 in Acandí, Chocó Department, Colombia, now receive continuous electricity through new hybrid solar plants. The project, developed under Colombia's national energy plan, involved installing solar infrastructure and upgrading existing power systems.

The Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy confirmed total investment at approximately $7.5 million. At Capurganá, a hybrid plant with 3,500 solar panels and thermal backup provides 24-hour power for the first time. This $4.5 million installation serves areas including Sapzurro, Playa Belén, and Playa Regalo.

Simultaneously, Acandí's generation plant underwent upgrades with a $3 million investment, benefiting communities like Aguacate, Playa Soledad, and Bahía Rufino. Interconnection lines between the regions were improved.

The project created 20 direct and 12 indirect local jobs. Colombia's Institute for Energy Solutions Planning and Promotion (IPSE) and Ministry coordinated the implementation.
