Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Volkswagen Group China, CATL, and Brunp Recycling recently co-launched a closed-loop power battery recycling project in Changsha city, according to a press release Brunp Recycling issued on July 22 via its WeChat account. The move marks a new milestone in their collaboration toward a more sustainable automotive future.
The initiative aims to deepen cooperation in green energy and the circular economy by establishing a cleaner, more efficient industry ecosystem. The three parties have pledged to drive innovation and development in battery recycling, reinforcing their shared commitment to environmental stewardship and long-term sustainable growth.
Zeng Yu, an environmental management expert at Volkswagen Group China, reiterated the company's dedication to sustainable vehicle manufacturing and expressed strong confidence in the long-term, stable cooperation with CATL and Brunp. Wang Lili, Director of Efficiency and Environmental Management at Volkswagen Group China, emphasized the importance of the partnership not only in strengthening domestic collaboration but also in supporting Brunp Recycling's broader global expansion.
During the launch, company executives toured the battery recycling line, observing key processes including battery pack disassembly and discharge treatment. Volkswagen's approach to handling end-of-life battery packs was praised for its safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
