The Songyuan Project is located in Qian'gorlos Mongol Autonomous County, Songyuan City, Jilin Province. It is planned to be constructed in phases, with a total capacity of 3 million kW of new energy power generation, 800,000 mt of green synthetic ammonia, and green methanol. It is one of the first batch of green and low-carbon advanced technology demonstration projects approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). The total investment for Phase I of the project is 6.946 billion yuan, with plans to construct 800,000 kW of new energy power generation, as well as facilities capable of producing 200,000 mt of green synthetic ammonia and green methanol annually. The project is expected to commence operations in the second half of 2025 (H2 2025).
Upon completion and operation, the Songyuan Project will enable on-site consumption of green electricity and its conversion into high value-added products. It is of great significance for safeguarding national energy security, establishing a pathway for large-scale production of green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol, and promoting the development of the green chemical industry. The project will accelerate the integration of all links in the hydrogen energy industry, including production, storage, transportation, and utilization, and will serve as an important demonstration and leading force for the development of the domestic green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol industries.
