On 12 July, Galan Lithium announced an update on its Hombre Muerto West (HMW) Phase 1 lithium brine project in Argentina, slowing construction to preserve cash amid current market conditions. The overall project, now 40% complete, is expected to begin production in the second half of 2025.

The current evaporation area, spanning 750,000m², can produce approximately 3,000 tonnes of LCE annually. Lithium inventories in the HMW Phase 1 ponds have reached 2,800 tonnes of LCE.

The HMW project development is divided into four phases, targeting increasing production capacities: 5,400 tonnes of LCE per year by H2 2025, 21,000 tonnes by 2026, 40,000 tonnes by 2028, and 60,000 tonnes by 2030. The final phase will also incorporate lithium brine from Galan’s Candelas project adjacent to the east side of Arcadium's assets.
