Beijing (Gasgoo)- On May 29, the launch ceremony of the autonomous driving test and demonstration project on the Beijing-Xiong'an Expressway (Hebei section) took place in Xiong'an New Area.
The Beijing-Xiong'an Expressway, a vital link between Beijing and Xiong'an, now includes a dedicated 108-kilometer lane for autonomous driving. Equipped with advanced intelligent sensing and communication devices, the expressway offers comprehensive monitoring and control capabilities, laying a solid foundation for autonomous driving tests.The project will unfold in three phases. The first phase involves scientific validation and comprehensive planning. The second phase focuses on enhancing road safety facilities. In the third phase, vehicles with different levels of autonomous driving capabilities will be selected for demonstration tests and displays.
During the event, attendees witnessed the inauguration of the Innovation Research Center for New Transportation Productivity at the Hebei Tsinghua Development Research Institute. The center aims to advance the integrated application of vehicle-road-cloud systems for autonomous driving on expressways. It will conduct innovative research on new transportation productivity, striving to become a benchmark for industry-academic collaboration and an industry reference.
