Beijing (Gasgoo)- On May 30, BeijingWest Industries (BWI) announced that it has secured a substantial order worth hundreds of millions of yuan for its AeroRide™ air suspension system from Dongfeng Motor's MHERO electric off-roader brand.
The order includes air supply units, air tanks, and air springs for MHERO's next-generation large electric SUV. The project is planned for 100% localized mass production by BWI in 2025, with continuous supply for the model in the coming years.
Launched in 2021, the AeroRide™ air suspension system comprises key components such as motors, compressors, air dryers, and integrated air management modules. It is suitable for high-end off-road vehicles, SUVs, and sedans. Previously, this suspension system was featured in the production of the MHERO 917. This new order signifies a deepening collaboration between BWI and Dongfeng Motor.
BWI has made extensive and in-depth investments in the automotive intelligent chassis sector, covering core technologies such as brake-by-wire (1-Box and 2-Box), EPB, ESC, electro-mechanical braking (EMB), and electronically controlled suspension systems.
According to data released by BWI, the company's global orders totaled $2.7 billion in 2023, a near 300% year-on-year increase. This includes over $220 million in brake-by-wire product orders from a well-known European automotive group and significant orders that have allowed BWI's ESC products to re-enter the North American mainstream market.
