Latest SMM domestic market update: Inner-layer high-purity quartz sand for quartz crucibles is 390,000-440,000 yuan/mt, average 415,000 yuan/mt, stable prices. Middle-layer sand is 190,000-230,000 yuan/mt, average 210,000 yuan/mt, stable. Outer-layer sand is 50,000-120,000 yuan/mt, average 85,000 yuan/mt, with a recent price drop.
Recent update: Prices for domestic high-purity quartz sand in crucible middle and inner layers have stabilized since August due to less demand from September—Module production and demand are down, prices are falling, and inventories are growing, leading to less demand for upstream products and related materials, lowering quartz sand demand. Domestic high-purity quartz sand supply rose later in the year as major firms resumed paused production in Q3 and others expanded capacity, increasing supply pressure. Meanwhile, crucible and silicon wafer makers, under profit margin strain, resisted high sand prices, stabilizing costs temporarily. Outer-layer crucible quartz sand prices are falling—East China's sand companies, seeing fewer orders, are cutting prices from 70,000 to 50,000 yuan/mt to boost sales. However, leading enterprises have not yet adjusted their prices due to different sales models.
