To continuously enhance the rigor and market representativeness of our price assessments, the quote frequency for the following nine domestic bauxite price points will be adjusted: from daily updates to monthly updates (on the first Thursday of each month at 5:00 PM Beijing Time). Apart from the quote frequency, all other information regarding these price points (including specifications, pricing unit, delivery method, etc.) will remain unchanged.
The price points subject to adjustment are as follows:
- High-Grade Bauxite (Shanxi)
- Low-Grade Bauxite (Shanxi)
- High-Grade Bauxite (Henan)
- Low-Grade Bauxite (Henan)
- High-Grade Bauxite (Guangxi)
- Low-Grade Bauxite (Guangxi)
- High-Grade Bauxite (Guizhou)
- Low-Grade Bauxite (Guizhou)
- Guiyang Bauxite (60%/6.0)
Background and Basis for the Adjustment:
This adjustment is based on our long-term tracking and prudent assessment of the current trading status of the domestic bauxite market. Recently, overall transaction activity in the domestic bauxite market has been relatively low, and the actual trading rhythm between buyers and sellers has generally shifted to a "monthly pricing" model. Under such market conditions, daily quotes, lacking sufficient daily transaction samples for support, struggle to accurately reflect price changes.
In line with the SMM methodology principle that "quote frequency should match the actual market transaction cycle," we have simultaneously updated the relevant methodology to uniformly adjust the frequency of this series of price points to monthly updates. This change helps to:
- More accurately reflect the actual trading practices and price formation mechanisms of domestic bauxite;
- Enhance the stability and credibility of price data through more comprehensive monthly transaction samples.
Effective Date and Communication Channels:
The above quote frequency adjustment will take effect on April 17, 2026. After the effective date, you can view the updated prices on the SMM official website and data terminals.
