Dear Users!
As Chinese domestic lead smelting enterprises continue to increase their reliance on imported remelted lead as raw materials, market participants are expressing a growing need for a pricing benchmark that accurately reflects import costs. At the same time, there is currently a lack of open, transparent, and reliable reference prices for the landed, duty-paid cost of imported remelted lead. Pricing in transactions often depends on fragmented information, which is not only inefficient but can also lead to decision-making biases for market participants. Therefore, in the interest of being responsible to the market, we have decided to introduce this series of quotations to provide a fair and transparent price reference for the industry.
Starting from April 24, 2026, we will officially release the China imported remelted lead, duty-paid price and its premiums/discounts. This is defined as the duty-paid, ex-warehouse price of imported remelted lead at major Chinese ports. The quotation will take into account factors such as the quality of the material (including the content of valuable metals such as antimony and tin) and actual transaction conditions at ports. The pricing points covered include: the landed, duty-paid price of remelted lead, and the premiums/discounts to the landed, duty-paid price.
The introduction of these new quotations aims to provide more forward-looking and practical price references for Chinese domestic lead smelting enterprises, traders, and related upstream and downstream stakeholders, helping companies optimize their operational decisions and enhance market competitiveness.
Thank you for your continued attention and support to Shanghai Metals Market (SMM). We fully understand the importance of pricing information for industry development, and we will continue to invest resources to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the prices we publish. At the same time, we welcome valuable feedback and suggestions from all users, and look forward to working together to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the lead industry.
