Dear users,

To provide a more accurate reflection of imported semi-finished and long steel prices in Malaysia and support market participants in procurement, pricing, cost calculation and trade decision-making, SMM will launch the following price points on September 10, 2026:

  • Indonesia-Origin Billet 3SP 150×150 CFR Malaysia
  • Indonesia-Origin Slab SAE1006/SS400 200/230×1,000–1,530 CFR Malaysia
  • Indonesia-Origin Wire Rod SAE1008 6.5/8/10 CFR Malaysia

Malaysia is an important destination for steel products exported from Indonesia. Changes in Indonesian export quotations, ocean freight rates, raw-material costs, production schedules and Malaysian demand can directly affect import replacement costs and domestic market sentiment.

The introduction of these price points will improve market transparency and provide comparable benchmarks for Malaysian importers, traders, rerollers and downstream consumers.

The assessments will be based on actual transactions, executable quotations and other verifiable market information collected from producers, traders, importers, rerollers and downstream consumers.

Information involving different product specifications, destination ports, payment terms, transaction volumes or delivery periods will be normalized to the stated assessment basis in accordance with the SMM price methodology.

SMM will continue to monitor Indonesian export quotations, ocean freight rates, production schedules, Malaysian import demand and related market transactions to ensure that the assessments reflect prevailing market conditions.
