To better align with the update cycle of global stainless steel production data and further improve the timeliness, systematic coverage, and reference value of our data services, SMM has decided to adjust certain stainless steel production-related data points following market research and a review of data methodologies. The specific arrangements are as follows:
I. Discontinuation of Existing Data Points
The following stainless steel production-related data points will officially stop being updated:
- ISSF: Global Stainless Steel Production: Total: Annual
- ISSF: Global 200-Series Stainless Steel Production: Annual
- ISSF: Global 300-Series Stainless Steel Production: Annual
- ISSF: Global 400-Series Stainless Steel Production: Annual
The last update for the above data points will be the 2025 production data, and these data points will officially be discontinued from July 1, 2026.
II. Data Adjustment and New Data Points
To better reflect regional changes as well as annual and quarterly trends in global stainless steel crude steel production, SMM will launch the following new data points on July 6, 2026:
- Global Stainless Steel Crude Steel Annual Production by Region
- Global Stainless Steel Crude Steel Quarterly Production by Region
The new data points will cover both global and major regional scopes. The quarterly data will cover the period from Q1 2021 to Q2 2026, while the annual data will cover the corresponding full-year periods.
The newly added data will present changes in global stainless steel crude steel production from both annual and quarterly perspectives, with breakdowns by major regions. This will help users track global stainless steel supply patterns and regional production trends in a more comprehensive and timely manner.
