Overview:The tungsten concentrates market remained temporarily stable. China’s second batch of tungsten concentrates mining quotas was gradually being issued to various provinces. There were market rumors that the total quota this year would decline YoY. At present, only Heilongjiang Province in China had issued quotas to specific mines, while mines in major producing areas such as Jiangxi and Hunan had not yet received any quota-related information; the final magnitude of any change remains to be verified. Some traders turned bullish and entered the market to purchase, driving an increase in transaction volumes in the tungsten concentrates market. However, industry sentiment remained cautious, with negotiations largely centered on long-term contracts and institutional quotations, and no major fluctuations had occurred for the time being. Yesterday, a mine in Shaanxi saw a low-grade ore auction close at a transaction price of 6,050 yuan/mtu, with the center moving up somewhat compared with the earlier period.
Trader: Market transactions for 55% tungsten concentrates were basically around 41.2-41.4. 65% ore was very hard to find, and the price spread between 55% and 65% narrowed somewhat.
Downstream: The new round of long-term contract prices was 412,000 yuan/standard tonne (65%WO3 basis), slightly higher than spot order transaction prices. Long-term contract suppliers were the main focus, and spot orders were not being purchased.
Upstream: On the ore side, long-term contracts were the mainstay. Recently, some toll processing orders were taken; clients provided the ore and they were mainly responsible for production, so there was no need to buy ore in the short term.
Downstream: The transaction price for 55% tungsten concentrates was around 412,000, basically on par with long-term contract prices. The center edged up slightly, but downstream orders entered the market slowly.
Downstream: The market showed a somewhat ore-strong, APT-weak trend. The transaction center for tungsten concentrates above 50% stayed high, but APT prices had already loosened significantly.
