In recent years, Indonesia's energy transition has shown clear signs of acceleration. As the government sets more ambitious renewable energy targets, and as mining decarbonisation, island-based power system upgrades, floating PV project development and local manufacturing build-out continue to advance, the long-term growth potential of Indonesia's solar PV, energy storage and microgrid markets is opening up further.
Jun 19, 2026 18:02Indian PV manufacturer and EPC company HVR Solar plans to enter solar cell manufacturing with a 1.2GW annual production facility in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. The company signed MoUs with several international technology partners during SNEC 2026, including Shenzhen Han’s Photovoltaic Equipment for TOPCon cell equipment, Gentech Technology for chemical and gas utility systems, and Indygreen Technologies for production line integration. HVR said the project will support India’s domestic renewable supply chain, reduce import reliance and create more than 500 direct jobs
Jun 19, 2026 14:57Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, part of Jameel Energy, has secured 2.3GW of transmission grid capacity in Germany to support battery storage, solar PV and hybrid renewable projects. FRV said grid access has become a decisive factor for large-scale renewable and storage projects in Germany. The secured portfolio is expected to reach ready-to-build status between 2026 and 2029 across regions including Brandenburg, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, covering 2-hour and 4-hour BESS projects, solar PV plants and hybrid projects.
Jun 19, 2026 14:56Brunei’s Department of Energy has launched a tender for five grid-connected solar installations on government buildings in the Brunei Muara district. The scope covers the design, construction, operation and maintenance of rooftop and carport PV systems, with the selected developer also required to assess the feasible PV capacity at each site. The tender is open to local and international companies, with applications due by June 23. Brunei had around 6MW of cumulative solar capacity by the end of last year and aims to reach 30% renewables in its power mix by 2035.
Jun 19, 2026 14:55Octopus Energy has launched SolarUp in Germany, targeting PV systems that have reached the end of their 20-year feed-in tariff period as well as new solar customers seeking more predictable energy costs. The package combines a fixed-price electricity tariff, annual payments for exported surplus power, battery storage and inverter retrofits.
Jun 19, 2026 14:54Recycle Now and Every Can Counts estimate that around 2 billion beverage cans could be consumed in the UK during the FIFA World Cup 2026. Based on current aluminium scrap values, the cans would be worth approximately GBP 28.5 million (USD 38.5 million) if fully collected and recycled. The organisations noted that aluminium cans remain one of the most valuable and widely recycled packaging materials, with used beverage cans valued at around GBP 1,000 per tonne. Aluminium can be recycled indefinitely without losing its properties, allowing a used can to return to store shelves as a new product in as little as 60 days. According to the groups, recycling around 10 billion aluminium cans annually in the UK helps prevent an estimated 3 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. The campaign aims to further promote aluminium recycling and circular economy practices during the World Cup.
Jun 19, 2026 14:32Bangladesh has announced a major policy package to accelerate solar development, including a 0% tax rate for the solar sector until 2035 and a 5% tax rebate on consumers’ solar electricity bill payments. The government will also reduce import duty, regulatory duty, supplementary duty and advance tax to 0% on key solar components, including inverters, lithium cells, lithium-ion batteries, PV modules, mounting structures, BESS, battery management systems, solar DC cables and battery thermal management systems. The policy aims to attract investment and support Bangladesh’s target of meeting 20% of electricity demand from renewables by 2030 and 30%-50% from clean energy by 2050. SMM believes lower taxes and equipment import costs will support utility-scale and distributed solar development, while improving the attractiveness of local renewable energy equipment manufacturing.
Jun 19, 2026 14:26Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization has submitted a proposal to deploy 15GW of small-scale solar plants across residential, commercial and agricultural sectors. SATBA said both domestic manufacturing and equipment imports will be needed to support rapid installations, while additional financing support for home solar systems has also been proposed. The program will focus on rooftop, home, commercial and agricultural PV systems, with standardized packages including solar panels, hybrid inverters and batteries. SMM believes Iran is shifting part of its renewable strategy from large-scale plants toward distributed and small-scale solar-plus-storage systems, with equipment supply, financing mechanisms and installation training becoming key factors for implementation.
Jun 19, 2026 14:25Currently, driven by China's EVA petrochemical plants actively controlling production to support prices and the rigid continuous procurement from downstream film enterprises, the industry EVA inventory is steadily destocking. The previously high inventory pressure has significantly eased, and the sentiment of low-price sell-off in the market has largely subsided. On the demand side, marginal improvement expectations are emerging. In July, module scheduled production is expected to see a slight rebound, which is likely to drive a recovery in restocking demand for raw materials at film plants. Meanwhile, in July, multiple petrochemical enterprises plan to shut down their PV-grade EVA units for maintenance, leading to market expectations of phased supply contraction. However, the strength of end-use demand recovery remains uncertain. Whether supply tightening can align with the increase in scheduled production to drive EVA prices upward still requires continuous monitoring of spot transactions and the pace of downstream stockpiling.
Jun 18, 2026 15:35Notice on the Issuance of the “Management Measures for the ‘Three-North’ Project Construction (Trial)” by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Natural Resources. According to the document, the “Three-North” Project focuses on combating desertification and sandification as its main direction, takes building a robust ecological security barrier in the north as its fundamental goal, and advances strictly in accordance with the principle of “design first, then approval, and construction last.” The document encourages relevant localities, in light of actual conditions and in accordance with relevant national regulations, to explore the implementation of “work-relief,” “rewards as subsidies,” and other measures. It supports the development of governance models such as “PV + sand control” built on ensuring the consumption of new energy and “road-based sand control.” It guides enterprises, collectives, farmers, and herders to participate in project construction through means such as contracting, shareholding, leasing, and labor contribution.
